HOW YOU CAN HELP US REACH OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL BY HOLDING AN EVENT IN YOUR HOMETOWN

Thank you to Emily Loen for this guide.  Poster available through the graphics team which may be cusomized to your event.

(This can easily be adapted to restaurants - a pizza night, mexican place, fast food place, bingo hall, roller rink - wherever you choose to hold it!   Tuck some little flags in the drinks and have fun!)

Cocktail Hour:

Raise a Drink to the Ladies

or Adult Sex Ed Happy Hour :)

*Ask a bar if they'd be interested in hosting a fundraiser for the
rally. Essential to every fundraiser are raffle items - these are an
easy way to make $ and the bar doesn't have to put any $ on the line.
A few ways the bar can participate:

BAR:

1 - Offer the space.

2 - Offer a drink special, $X from each drink is donated to the cause.

3 - Put you in touch w/ local bands who will play for a benefit or
awareness raising show. If you sell it to a band like "hey, we want to
raise awareness of this event AND support your band - interested in
mentioning the event and encouraging folks to buy raffle tickets
during your sets?" If a band is already playing at a bar, the bar is
less likely to give you a door cut because it's going to the band, but
they may help out w/ drink specials!

4 - Give $X from the door to the cause

PUBLICITY:

YOU do a poster, post on facebook, twitter, email friends & local
clinics. Ask the raffle prize donors to put out a shoutout on their
facebook page, liberally thank the raffle donors on your fb page/in
your circle. Ask the bar to put up a link on their social media pages
& ask if you can post signs in the bar prior to the event.

Put up posters in relevant locations & just in the bar neighborhood.
Don't kill yourself promoting, but 10-15 posters goes a long way!

Send in a blurb to your local weekly and ask it to be included in the
"events" section in the weekly paper. Highlight how it relates to the
homefires.

RAFFLE:

Great & fairly easy raffle items to get are - massages, pizza place
gift certificates, certifs to your favorite eatery *where they know
you!* , favorite shops, maybe a sex related shop just to spice things
up. (everyone loves that, even if they cringe!) Suggestion - consider
your resources, everybody knows a small business owner & most like the
publicity!

Raffle tickets can be bought usually at party supply shops, they come
in GIANT rolls so if you have a friend who's done this before, they
might be able to hook you up with some raffle tix.

AT THE EVENT:

Have 2 people outside at the door selling raffle tickets. We sold $5
for an arm's length - measure out the tix against the buyer's arm -
that's worth $5. So they get a lot of value and they're likelier to
buy if it seems like they're getting alot (even though everyone
basically gets the same amount!:))

Have signs for the actual event inside where people can see what's
going on, what it's all for. You'll get folks unrelated to the
fundraiser who will buy tix & get interested too.
